Welcome again to Weekend Wanderings, the best from the last week or two on the web.
Chris Hodges brings a fantastic piece via Relevant Magazine, Are you Loving God Out of Obligation? Listen to some of these quotables:
“You can fulfill the commands of the Bible better by falling in love with God than by trying to obey everything.”
“The Christian faith is not a business transaction. It’s not an arranged marriage with an exchange of compliance for a dowry of riches. Christianity only works if you’re in love.”
“Jesus said, “If you love me, you will obey what I command” (John 14:15, emphasis mine). For years I read that verse this way: “If you love me, you will obey me and prove how much you love me.”
Go on over to Relevant and take a look.
Seth Caddell, from Life As Experienced, weighs in with not one but two excellent posts. In Conviction Doesn’t Mean Anything he challenges believers to not merely walk away from a great message convicted, but to actually apply something. A second offering is Busyness is Next to Godliness. This reveals our obsession with being in motion at all times. Ask someone “How are you Doing?” and you are likely to hear “Busy” as an answer.
And speaking of great things happening on the web, my book, Death of the Modern SuperHero: How Grace Breaks our Rules is FREE on Kindle this weekend. Go take a look, download, and please, please leave a review! Tell your Friends!
